Ajax Liquid HE 2x Concentrate Is A Great Detergent: I Give It A 10 Out Of 10
by Brian
(New York)
Brian has shared his Ajax laundry detergent review, in the HE variety. This is actually the second page of these reviews I've collected on the site, since the first page was getting quite long.
Brian says:
This detergent is available at Price Rite Grocery Stores. They also sell it with Bleach Alternative in HE 2X Concentrate.
I have only used the regular Ajax HE but plan to buy the Bleach Alternative HE version to see if it whitens and gets out stains. ***Update - below Brian wrote back in to share that review as well. ***End Update
It would be nice if it could replace my laundry booster but I'll have to see after I try it if it's strong enough to do the job of stain lifting and whitening in a detergent only.
That's a tall order since I have found most detergents need the boosters added after the detergent goes in to whiten and remove stains.

Ajax Liquid HE 2x Concentrate is a great detergent.
The price is amazing and the bottle is very substantial and holds way more detergent than the other brands.
It does a great job cleaning the clothes.
The smell of the detergent when you open the bottle is very fresh. It smells incredible. It's not as strong a scent as
Cheer or
Gain. You have to get close to smell what's inside but it is a very very pleasing and super fresh scent.
The only disappointment I've found is that after the clothes are
washed it leaves no lasting scent. The clothes basically smell like nothing. Which still is a good thing because that means they are clean and there is no scent or odors.
For me that's a good thing because I don't like heavy scents as it bothers me. I have sensitive breathing and I prefer a low to no scent and Ajax provides that.
Another very positive trait to Ajax laundry detergent is that for those, like me with sensitive skin, this
detergent does not itch or leave red marks on your skin.
Tide gives me a rash, I don't know why so many people love that detergent. Not to mention it's so ridiculously over priced. Ajax is gentle and leaves no harsh remnants on your clothes or skin.
Ajax detergent is a long time standard product. It was promoted very heavily on TV back in the 60's and 70's. I don't know why it dropped out of site for so long but I am glad to find it is back.
I found it at Price Rite a couple of years ago and have been using it ever since. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 10!! Go get some - you won't be disappointed.

Ajax Bleach Alternative Labeling & Directions Issue
by Rita
Rita Asks:
I picked up a bottle labelled Ajax Bleach Alternative. No where does it say it is a laundry detergent or that I should add it to a laundry detergent.
I have a front loading washer. What do you think?
Does this product fly solo or do I need to buy another product to use it?
Taylor's Answer:
Hi Rita, thanks for your question.
This product is definitely a laundry detergent, which just has some type of
non-chlorine bleach added as an added stain fighter.
You should be fine using it alone. Just make sure you get the HE version, since you said you have a front loader!
Plus, you can read a review of this variety below. Hope that answer helped!

Ajax 2x Concentrated with Bleach Alternative HE Review: Even Better Than The Other Version
by Brian
(New York)
Above Brian shared a review with me of the original scented version, and said he would be trying out the version of this detergent with bleach alternative. He's now done so and shared an additional review.
Brian says:
This is the best laundry detergent I've ever used and I've used them all.
Surf has been my main and favorite detergent for years until I came across Ajax and there was no Surf at the store so I bought the Ajax.
I remember this detergent in a box from the 60's and 70's when I was a kid. I figured I'd give the 'Stronger Than Dirt' detergent a try.
The bleach alternative version is amazing. I can finally stop buying
Oxi powders and stain removing additions to the laundry. That's because Ajax with Bleach Alternative truly whitens the whites and get's out all the stains. I've never had a laundry detergent actually do that.
They ALL needed help with
Biz or
Oxy Clean or
Sun Oxi or
Borax... not Ajax. It get's the stains out on its own.
I do still keep a bottle of
Shout handy for an unexpected
wine stain or
red sauce stain or something that is really tough to clean out on its own. I think wine is probably the only stain that would need Shout. I would bet Ajax could get anything else out on its own.
I've read how some people said that Ajax is too watery or too this or too that. Well being thicker doesn't mean it's better.
Ajax is a
low sudsing detergent but it covers the
grease and
dirt and breaks it up so fast it doesn't need to create lots of suds to do the job.
Just like
its dish liquid, it doesn't create tons of foam or bubbles like a
Palmolive does however Ajax will clean your dishes better than any. It dissolves the dirt and grease fast and washes it away so there is no need for endless sudsing or rinsing.
Another big benefit to the Ajax Detergent with Bleach Alternative is I've found it to not fade the dark clothes. I was nervous that a whitening detergent could have an adverse affect on darks, but if you wash in the proper temperatures for whites vs darks, the Ajax will clean, perform and not fade.
Taylor says:
Thanks Brian for two thorough reviews. I'm sure these will really help other readers!
I'd love to hear from even more people sharing their detergent reviews, of this or any other brand. You can
share your laundry detergent review here, telling me what you like (or hate) about a particular detergent, and how it has worked for you!
