Here are my reviews and recommendations of stain removal and house cleaning books so you can have the best information on hand.
It's nice to have resources when you've got a stain or cleaning emergency, and I sure hope one of these resources is this site.
However, I'm not the only expert you can consult on these topics, and gasp, what if I haven't covered something yet you need help with?
Because of that I've decided to compile a list of my favorite books on the subjects of stain removal and cleaning. Goodness knows I've read quite a few myself, and I know which ones I found helpful and useful.
I've personally read each of the books I've reviewed and recommended below (or even written or contributed to some of them!)
As you can see, currently I've only got a couple of reviews listed. As I write more reviews I will continue adding them here to keep this resource list as helpful and up to date as possible for you.
I've included links for where you can purchase these books, where available, and they are referral links!
The book, Home Comforts: The Art & Science Of Keeping House was given to me as a gift, by my fater, when I first got my own apartment. He thought it sounded like an interesting book (it had just come out), and it was written by a former, or as I like to call them, recovering lawyer. I was going to law school at the time (I'm now a recovering lawyer myself) and so, as history wrote, he bought it for me. I've still got my original copy, which he wrote in for me, and it's so special, because this book is absolutely my favorite. For a topic like homekeeping it actually really captivated me, and somehow the author, Cheryl Mendelson, both tells you in great detail how to do things, and the scientific reasons for why, while at the same time making it sound fascinating and interesting. I highly recommend this book, and I consult it often!

As usual, when Martha Stewart does something, she does it well. Her Homekeeping Handbook is a great reference guide for just about any common cleaning or laundry problem you might have, although there's not much about removing stains in the book (just a few pages worth). The book also provides a lot of information about setting up a home, from the number of place settings to how to organize your linen closet.
I've done a round up of some of Martha's stain removal tips here if you'd like to check them out!

The Clean It Fast, Clean It Right book, as far as I can tell, is now out of print, but there are a lot of used copies available still. This book is exactly what it sounds like, a big book of how to clean various items. It also includes quite a few stain removal tips in there as well. It's always my first consult if I've got something unusual that needs to be cleaned, from aquariums to whirpools.

I've been blogging a heck of a long time. And way back when there used to be these things called linky parties, where bloggers would all link up their best posts about a subject so everyone could find and read them more easily. I used to participate in one called "Works For Me Wednesday" and lots of excellent tips were shared, including lots of cleaning, laundry and stain removal tips. Eventually the organizers of that linky party decided to bring together the best of the best of these tips into one ebook, and I was chosen as a contributor!
I've written a full review of this ebook here if you'd like to check it out.

Finally, I've written a short ebook with lots of house cleaning checklists for all over your home that I would love to give you, as a free gift, when you join the Household Management 101 newsletter list (it's a sister site of mine). You can read more about it here, and find out how to get your copy.
I'm always looking for new books and resources to read, so if you've got a favorite that's not already reviewed here I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Those with the most "votes" or "mentions" will be those I'll get up higher in the queue for a review, along with me sharing some more stain removal and cleaning books classics and favorites with you over time.
