Downy (often accidentally misspelled as Downey fabric softener) is by far one of the most popular brands of fabric softener sold in the United States.
It is available in a multitude of scents, and as both a liquid fabric softener for use in your washer and in dryer sheets, for use in your dryer.
It is manufactured by Procter & Gamble, the same company that manufactures such large brands of detergent as Tide, Cheer, and Gain.
The classic scent is known as "April Fresh," but as stated, Downy has greatly expanded both the number of scents available, and the product lines it offers.
First, there is "Ultra" which is the concentrated version of the liquid product.
There are also some of these scents available in dryer sheets.
In addition, additional product lines include "Simple Pleasures," which include more exotic scents, and there are more scents available in the liquid than for the Downy fabric softener sheets.
There is also yet another product line called "pure essentials." However, contrary to its name "pure essentials" is not actually a natural fabric softener, like you might suspect, and I personally believe this probably confuses some people.
Finally, there is also a scent free version of the Downy liquid softener, termed "free and sensitive" for those looking for a hypoallergenic fabric softener. This non-scented version does not appear to be available in dryer sheets though.
Further, Downy has recently come out with a whole new line of products, called Downy Unstopables, which is a crystal, in-wash scent booster, but which is actually not itself a fabric softener.
There is such a variety of scents and products available I would love for you to skip down here to share your own review of the products, telling me how they have worked for you, and what you like or dislike about then.
Since Downy is such a popular brand you can find it in many stores, and also can purchase it online through the links below.
Tell me how this fabric softener worked for you, the good or the bad.
Here are some helpful hints to make sure your review is as useful as possible:
Tell me which exact brand, type and scent of softener you are reviewing, and any other important identifying characteristics of it.
Further, helpful information would include how it made your clothes feel, how it smelled immediately afterward and whether the scent lingered or not, whether you had any problems with it staining or spotting clothing, what types of fabrics you use it with, and/or any allergies or skin reactions you or a family member experienced while using it, if applicable.
I also am interested in whether you feel you need to also use dryer sheets when you use the softener.
Any other details relevant to your opinions of the product or supply are all appreciated.
