Further, not all carpet cleaners are safe for every type or color of carpet.
The video below lists eight rules, which if followed, will help you properly use carpet stain removal products so that you have the best chance of removing your stain, without ruining or damaging your carpet in the process.
Here are some of the most important rules. (See the video for all of them.)
Test the carpet stain removal product in an inconspicuous area of your carpet first, to make sure no damage to the carpet occurs, before actually using it on the stain itself.
If the carpet stain remover begins to bleach your carpet immediately spray the area with water and blot to remove the stain removal product.
If the stained area turns brown after application you have gotten an alkaline reaction, which must be neutralized. To do this, apply white vinegar to the area.
Make sure to remove all the carpet stain removal solution after use, by spraying water onto the area and blotting. Otherwise, the solution left in the carpet will attract dirt, making the area dirtier in the long run.
