Whink No More Yellow Stain Remover Truly Lives Up To Its Name
by SR101 Reader
An SR101 reader shared her experiences with Whink No More Yellow whitener and detergent.
SR101 Reader says:
I first learned about No More Yellow from a friend who works in food service at a school and wears white uniforms.
She uses this product to keep her uniforms white, using it on every third wash as it is not needed to be used every week to maintain the whiteness.
The No More Yellow laundry powder is designed for use in keeping white clothing from taking on a dingy look due to
hard water.
Although we do not have an issue with hard water I have used this product to wash white shirts and under shirts which had yellow under arm stains and stains on the collars due to
perspiration.
It is definitely a terrific whitener, and it does help with the yellow perspiration stains, but it is not a substitute for pretreating food and drink stains. You still need to address such stains as normal.
For pretreating these things I usually use
ZOUT. I figured if it works well for the variety of stains my friend gets on her uniforms it would work for me as well.
I have found that No More Yellow is also great for addressing white socks that you would never believe were ever white when they went into the washer!
Also note that this is for garments that are purely white, i.e. if there is any embroidery such as your name in a different color you can count on it being white washed. I discovered this the hard way.
I was able to purchase this product at a hardware store and I know it is available on line, but you probably will not find it in your local grocery store.

Thanks so much for sharing this review of this whitener and detergent with me.
I did a little more research on this product once you brought it to my attention, and it is designed to remove yellowing from white fabric caused by
rust and iron, as well as hard water.
In addition, it can be used to
remove dye stains from white fabrics, such as those that have been mistakenly washed with a colored item.
I would love to hear from even more people who've used this product, sharing how it worked for you. You can

This Saved A Load of Whites From A Red Dye Error
by Betty
Betty says:
To make a long story short a red shirt got thrown in the wash with a load of white bedding and it made a mess.
I washed the entire load with the Whink No More Yellow and all of the red stain was gone.
Fortunately we no longer live in an area where hard water is a problem, but when we did I used a lot more of this product for our white laundry.
Also fortunate that I still had it on hand for this laundry accident!
For every day stains I use
Whink Wash Away pretreater. It is excellent in removing food, drink, and
grass stains.
The Wash Away also works well on protein based stains like
baby formula, especially if they are treated before they dry on the fabric.
Taylor says:
Thanks for sharing this Betty!
I am always looking for
dye and color remover reviews like yours, telling me what worked (or didn't) in
getting rid of color bleed stains.
If anyone else has used a similar product (or this one) to remove such dye stains, I'd love to hear about it!

This Product Is Money Well Spent
by SR101 Reader
I already had good luck using the Wash Away pretreater for laundry stains (coffee, tea, and soda to name a few) on both white and non white clothing, so I decided to try the No More Yellow Product for some of my white laundry.
I am amazed at what a difference this product has made in the brightness of our white T shirts, shirts, and slacks.
It is money well spent, and like others have noted you do not need to use it each time you do a load of whites to appreciate the effect.
In fact one of my co workers asked me if I had bought some new shirts after I used this product.

I Much Prefer Mrs. Stewart's Bluing For Dingy Whites
by Glenn
Glenn says:
For years the removal of perspiration stains and
antiperspirant stains has been more than just challenging. Back in the day we had
chlorine bleach for the entire wash or
pre-spotting using Wisk directly on the stain.
I, for one, do not believe in
pre-spotting. I feel the laundry detergent should be good enough to handle all stains. And if I do pre-spot, it's with the same detergent I was going to use.
However, in lieu of Yellow Out, when my whites are dingy for whatever reason (generally chlorine bleach), I merely add a few drops of
Mrs. Stewart's Bluing to my final rinse.
Bluing has been around forever and I swear by it. Plus, it is nicely scented (No More Yellow smells like rotten eggs), and one small bottle will last years.
Taylor says:
Thanks so much for your review.
If you'd like to know more about the process of using bluing, and why it works, I've written the
Ultimate Guide to Laundry Bluing here that can give you more information.

Whink No More Yellow Is Awesome For White Laundry
by Jean
Jean says:
When it comes to white laundry Whink No More Yellow is great for washing my white (hospital) uniforms.
It is the best product for keeping them white.
I use it on every 4th wash to keep them really white.
I also wash white T shirts, denims, and undershirts with this product.
My only caution is that you do not let any one help with the sorting of laundry as this is a very powerful product that will take all color out of any garment that is not 100% white.
This product is definitely a great addition to the laundry room.
For those weeks when I don't use the Whink or for times when I have food or drink stains to contend with, I use detergent (
ERA,
Wisk, or
Tide) and
BIZ or
Oxi Clean as a booster to the wash.
BIZ and Oxi Clean are great products for white and colored clothing, especially when you are dealing with stains.
Taylor says:
Thanks so much for sharing this review Jean.
This is a product I don't think a lot of people know about, but if you've got lots of white laundry to do (as it sounds like you do because of your work uniforms) it sounds like something that people may really need to try.
I'd love even more reviews of this stuff. If you've used it, I'd love to hear how it worked for you. You can
