Oxiclean Stain Remover Liquid Review: 2 In 1 With Color Safe Brightener

Lou Ann shared her review of the Oxiclean stain remover liquid, which is advertised as containing color safe brightener.

Lou Ann says:

This product that is supposed to be color safe is not, at least in my experience.

It has ruined several towels and other articles of clothing, including sweat shirts, shirts and sweat pants.

If you look at my clothes it looks like someone splattered bleach on them.

I am very disappointed and upset. I purchased this product believing in the advertisement that it is color safe. It DEFINITELY is not.

Sorry to hear this was a problem for you Lou Ann.

I've learned that with some liquid oxygen bleaches, such as this one, that you've got to add the liquid to the washing machine and let it mix with water prior to adding the clothes.

In fact, that is what the website says to do for this product. The instructions state: "Add OxiClean 2in1 Stain Fighter with your detergents before adding clothes."

However, another part of the instructions say you can use this product as a pretreater. Specifically, it says "Pour product directly onto stain and rub gently. Wait 5-10 minutes (do not allow the product to dry on fabric), then wash." That would seem to indicate it shouldn't have caused this type of problem on your clothes.

I really want to know since I've got some of these Oxiclean Power Paks sitting in my laundry room, ready for me to try on my family's clothes right now. Should I be scared to try them?
