When you look at the picture to the right you may be wondering what the heck the product called "soap nuts" really is. Well, the "nuts" are actually berries that contains "saponin" which is not really a detergent, but instead a naturally occuring soap, but is used that way.
Basically, you throw 3-4 berries in a cloth bag and use these in your wash, like you would regular laundry detergent.
The difference is that it is a natural product, completely. It is not just "plant derived" like some eco-friendly detergents, but is itself a harvested plant.
There are many brands of these nuts available, so when sharing your review below please state which brand you used, since I have read about some differences between them.
In addition to being able to buy the nuts themselves you can also purchase liquid soap which is derived from the nuts, from some manufacturers. The liquid version that you either make yourself or purchase can be used not only to clean clothes, but for other cleaning uses in your home.
If you are reviewing the liquid type of product, please also make that clear in your review.
I know it may be difficult to picture what these nuts do while in your wash, so below is a very quick video just demonstrating how the nuts suds up the water when agitated, like they would be in your washing machine.
They are not found in most stores, but you can purchase a couple of different brands online through the links below:
