Wisk Detergent HE 2x Concentrated Review - Top Marks
by Janet
(Nashville, TN)
Janet has provided this Wisk detergent review.
Janet says:
Growing up my mom used whatever detergent was on sale or cheapest and in doing so, she quickly discovered that not all detergents are created equal.
However, once I started out on my own, I discovered that I'm
allergic to several of the top brands and went back to Mom to find out what she used most often if price weren't a factor and she said Wisk so that's what I went with.
Now I almost refuse to use anything else although I do use the ultra high efficiency formula instead of the original.
First, Wisk detergent doesn't have an overpowering scent, but a pleasant clean smell.
I also like that the scent doesn't fade immediately because my linen closet and my clothing drawers still retain a fresh smell a week later so everything seems better regardless of how long they've been stored.
It's also good to use a detergent that doesn't have an overpowering scent so that, especially for women, it doesn't compete with other perfumes or scented body washes, sprays, etc.
Second, with the 2X concentrated formula, I don't have to use as much so I buy less and thus spend less on detergent.
Since they came out with the 2X formula it's easier to store, as well because
it's in a smaller bottle. While that may not be a major factor for everyone, I love the smaller bottle because I live in a small apartment and my laundry space is really limited.
For those concerned for the environment that means less in the landfill, too.
Finally, and most importantly, Wisk is excellent at
removing most stains. I work with children everyday and am frequently into
finger paint,
playground dirt,
markers and snacktime food so it's a rare occasion that I go home with no stains of any kind.
I can easily treat spots with just a dab of Wisk directly on the stain and let it sit before I wash it. That means I also don't have to buy separate stain treatments.
In the general wash I love that day to day dirt is easily cleaned and the fabrics don't get stiff when dried and they don't seem to get worn or thin out like some washings do.
Colors stay bright for longer and I use less bleach than I used to on my whites.
Taylor says:

Wisk HE Liquid Detergent Review - Gets Out Body Odors Well But Not Blood Stains
by Sara
(Toledo, OH)
Sara has provided her Wisk HE liquid detergent review.
Sara says:
The liquid Wisk HE detergent has worked very well for our family.
We have an older machine that needs to be replaced in the next few years. Some detergents don't clean as efficiently as Wisk does for us in our washer.
It cleans all of our clothes very well, even
oil stains with minimal pre-treatment.
One thing I especially like is how it removes body odors from my husbands work clothes. He has a very physical job and works up quite a sweat. It can leave his clothing very smelly. Wisk actually gets the odor out, unlike other brands I've tried.
Other brands have strong fragrances that really just cover the body odor, but Wisk actually removes the odor with out leaving a lingering fragrance of it's own. Our clothes come out clean and smelling the way clothes should-like wet fabric. Not like a flower or mountain valley or some other nonsense.
While Wisk does have a mild soapy scent, it doesn't cling to clothing and it's not harsh or over powering. It's also been very gentle on our clothing, even my delicates.
Our old detergent seemed to wear out fabrics fairly fast, which is one reason we switched.
Wisk detergent isn't very good at getting
blood stains out though, even with pre-treating. Having 3 healthy and active boys, we see more blood stains than I care for. To get their clothes stain free, it does take a lot of soaking and pre-treating on my part when they get cuts and scrapes.
Over all, though, it works great for us.
Taylor says:
Sara, thanks for sharing your Wisk HE detergent review.
It is interesting that you said that Wisk works especially well in removing body odor from clothing, because another woman wrote in and suggested
using Wisk to remove cat urine smell from items in her home.
Has anyone else noted how well Wisk removes odor (or not) from things?

Using Wisk For 5 Years Now And Keep Coming Back To It
by Anonymous
Here is another Wisk review I've received.
Anonymous says:
I've been using Wisk detergent for five years now. I have also used many other laundry detergents during this time, but I always end up going back to using Wisk.
It gets my clothes nice and clean, especially my husband's
grease stained clothes and his shop rags. It just washes the dirt away.
My family and friends ask me how I keep my whites and color clothes so bright. I tell them I use Wisk detergent. I tell them give it a try. It doesn't cost much and a little goes a long way.

Wisk Liquid Detergent Got Out Old Grease Stain
by SR101 Reader
An SR101 Reader shared this story about how Wisk helped her get rid of an old grease stain even on a dry clean only garment.
SR101 Reader says:
I had spilled a
grease stain on an expensive suit I bought. The suit was dry clean only and I didn't put it in the cleaners thinking it would not come out. I has a previous experience with that happening, so that is why I chose not to put it in there.
I poured some Wisk on the suit it and hung it in my closet. About three years later I unpacked it, because I had relocated to another state. I decided to wash the suit in cold water in the washing machine. When I got it out I could not believe my eyes! The suit looked like brand new, no stains or signs of grease anywhere!
I recommend Wisk to any and everybody. I would do a commercial in a heart beat about this product given the opportunity. It works! No doubt about it!
Taylor says:
Thanks for sharing this story.
I think the key may have been pretreating it right away, which perhaps kept the grease from setting. Not sure though.
I definitely wouldn't recommend leaving a stain pretreater on for three years, but I am glad it all worked out for you!

Wisk Laundry Detergent Is Way Too Perfumy
by Jeff
Jeff has shared his review of this detergent.
Jeff says:
I tried it for the first time today and it absolutely reeks of perfume.
It's so bad I tossed everything back in the washer and ran it through a cycle without any detergent to get the smell out. Even then it lingered.
Tide doesn't have nearly that strong of an odor. I just wish it didn't cost twice as much.
Taylor says:
Thanks for sharing your review Jeff.
If you're interested in a completely scent free detergent Wisk has actually just come out with a "free and pure" version, which is free of dye and perfume, and actually works in both standard and HE machines.
I have not received any reviews of it yet though (***update - I now have, and you can see it below***), since it is so new, so if anyone else has tried it already I would love to hear what you thought of it. You can

I Had An Allergic Reaction To Wisk
by Robin
(Texas)
Robin says:
I was unknowingly having problems with a laundry detergent I started using last year (Wisk).
My rash would come and go. It happened in summer but I figured it was a heat rash since it gets hot in Texas and I sometimes work outside.
Well a few months ago it came back... in winter... and wouldn't go away.
I knew it was an eczema rash of some sort so I was treating that. It would get better but then came back on one side with a vengeance.
I thought it was the elastic in my underwear that I was somehow suddenly allergic to (I have airborne allergies so this would be nothing new).
And let's face it, all women's undies have that annoying elastic in the waist. So trying to outsmart it, I bought men's boxers and boxer briefs.
It did help because there was no harsh elastic to rub against me anymore, but it didn't go away, even with creams and lotions and all sorts of things to keep it from being dry.
One night I took a Benadryl and it got better. So the next night I took it again and it was better even more.
Now I knew that it was an allergy causing my rash.
Taylor says:
Thanks Robin for sharing your problems with this detergent, although I'm sorry you had such a rough time of it.
Robin went on to explain in another submission how she had to switch to another detergent, eventually it was Sun powder, to get rid of the rash. (You can
read the rest of her submission here.)

Wisk Deep Clean Original Gave Me A Rash
I have had ongoing issues with rashes daily for the past 4 months. I had rashes at times as a teenager also.
I recently came to the conclusion by process of elimination that it is my laundry detergent causing these rashes.
It took me a while to determine what type of rash I was having, but once I figured out that it had to be some type of allergic reaction I couldn't think of anything that could be causing it.
Then I remembered that the only thing I have changed is my laundry detergent.
I started using Wisk a few months back, I think it was on sale and I bought a bottle and I just kept on buying it. I must like the smell of it, I don't know.
I'm a single man and have never really put a lot of thought into what type of detergent I buy.
I went out and bought a fragrance free Tide detergent and still had some Wisk left in a bottle, so I decided to do a little test.
The only place that I don't break out is my hands and my head. My forehead actually broke out the other day after wearing a beanie, go figure I had just washed it a few days before that.
So I decided to take some of the Wisk and wash my hands with it like it is hand soap, and wow did I have a reaction!
But its well worth it, to know that's what the problem was. I am so tired of itching!!!

Wisk HE Detergent Is My Favorite
by Lydia McCurdy
(Raleigh, NC)
Lydia says:
My favorite laundry detergent is Wisk.
Fortunately, I am able to find the large liquid size for 110 loads at my local warehouse store for a reasonable price.
I use the High Efficiency version in my HE front loading washing machine.
I love that it is not scented with any particular scent. I do not want my clothes to smell as if they have been washed in perfume. I want my clothes to smell fresh and clean which is how they smell when I use Wisk.
Wisk works well in hot and cold water. I have children so their clothes are often stained with
juice,
dirt, and food. Wisk does an excellent job of removing the stains especially if they are fresh.
I rub a little bit onto my husband’s shirt collars before putting them in the wash and it removes the ring around the collar.
The stain removal helps me keep clothes looking better longer.
In addition, children’s skin is often sensitive, but my three have never had any kind of reaction to this detergent.
Because I use the HE Wisk one large bottle lasts me for a long time helping me to save money.
I highly recommend Wisk HE liquid to anyone looking to have fresh, clean clothes.
Taylor says:
Thanks Lydia for your review.
I have found, since I have started asking for all these laundry detergent reviews, that there are basically three camps of people when it comes to scents in detergents.
The first camp include those people that want no scent at all, for various reasons, and go for the
free and clear versions of detergents. The second are those who want wild or exotic scents for their laundry, and often pick this product and then that one for variety, unless they stumble upon a scent they just absolutely love. Finally, there are people (and I would count you in this third camp) who want a fresh clean scent in their laundry, but not to smelly fruity, or some other strange scent. Instead, they just want to smell a scent they associate with "cleanness." Several reviewers, including you, have said that Wisk provides that scent for them.
So, does anyone else use Wisk to clean their clothing? If so, you can
share your review here, or read other reviews already submitted.
